Prominent Malaysian and Indonesian designers will feature their collections on October 10th at Kembara Nazneen, an Islamic fashion showcase that is part of the Kangar Islamic Fashion Festival in Malaysia. It will be held at Dewan 2020 in the small capital city.
Appropriately called ‘Nazneen’, which means ‘exquisitely beautiful’ in Arabic, the runway at the event will be graced by collections from Datuk Radzuan Radziwill, Calvin Thoo and Dian Pelangi, as well as other notable names in Malaysia’s modest fashion industry. Other than the fashion show, the festival will feature an Islamic clothing bazaar and, bizarrely, a football match. The bazaar will be open to the public from 10am to 3pm. Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, is scheduled to inaugurate the festival.
The 2012 Kangar Islamic Fashion Festival is co-organised by the Association of Muslim Apparel Entrepreneurs and Designers (AMAED) and the Community College Education Department. AMAED is initiated by Dato’ Raja Rezza Shah, who is also the Chairman of the Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF). He established the IFF in the aim to promote Islam as a religion of beauty, as expressed in the diversity and elegance of its covered fashion styles.
